What's Next for the Class of 2020?
A global pandemic and virtual classes were the last thing members of the Class of 2020 expected when their final semester of school began in January 2020. Less than three months later, the coronavirus forced thousands of K-12 schools and colleges to close, leaving students and teachers to navigate a rapid transition to online learning. For high school and college seniors, the closure not only meant an abrupt end to school as they knew it, but also the cancellation of much-anticipated senior rituals like prom and graduation.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution followed several members of the Class of 2020 through their last months of the school year, speaking to them about the adversity they’ve faced and how they plan on moving forward. “Our future impact in the world will be defined by how we handle the situations thrust upon us,” Henry Xuan, a senior at Lambert High School, said.
